Here at Runway Training we have been searching the internet and have found a range of free Functional Skills resources for maths. As well as the huge range of resources on our own learning portal which will support you through your Maths Functional Skills Level 1 or Level 2 there are a number of free resources we have found for you on the web. We have added the web-links below.
NCFE
NCFE are an awarding body with ‘tons of free resources’. Scroll down the page to find sample maths and English papers at all different levels, including Maths Functional Skills Level 2 (and mark schemes too!) Further down the page you will be able to download a Qualification support pack which has useful information and some PowerPoints
Skills Workshop
Another great site we would recomend is Skills Workshop which allows you to search for resources in a particular topic and at a specific level. There is a huge range of very accessible resources which are clear and well presented. Some are very topical and up to date including things that have been in the news during the last month or so. Also included is the answers with a short explanation for each answer too. Well worth a look.
AQA
AQA are another Awarding Body which have put a wealth of resources on the web for free. Many of these, whilst useful for learners, do have the feel that they are designed to support tutors and teachers – but there are some interesting resources to try and answers are also provided.
If you click on the left side of the page you will see a link to past papers and mark schemes which is also really useful for practice tests.
OCR
Resource Link from OCR gives a huge number of worksheets, pdfs, PowerPoints and interactive websites most of which are free. There is a range of topics covered and they are ordered in increasing difficulty from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. Well worth checking out – particularly the websites where there is audio and helpful teaching points explained in clear English. The resource Link is set out like a catalogue – find the resource you are interested in and then click on the link in the coloured box.
This site is mainly for GCSE maths revision but has a range of interactive worksheets which automatically mark themselves giving you instant feedback. Well worth checking out.
BBC
One of the most well-known and established revision guides is BBC Bitesize which has recently been updated. There is a section on Functional Maths (see the link below) which includes information, video resources and quizzes to help you learn and test your knowledge and application of skills.
