The Adult Education Tutor will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment of online and classroom-based qualifications and programmes including Employability, Retail, Customer Service. The tutor will deliver structured learning that enables learners to develop and demonstrate long-term knowledge, skills and behaviours that will help them to progress and fulfil their aspirations for learning and employment progression.

The Adult Education Tutor will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment of online and classroom-based qualifications and programmes including Employability, Retail, Customer Service.

The tutor will deliver structured learning that enables learners to develop and demonstrate long-term knowledge, skills and behaviours that will help them to progress and fulfil their aspirations for learning and employment progression.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching, Learning and assessment:

  • Undertake effective initial assessment that leads to comprehensive Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) that take into consideration individual learning styles and needs
  • Deliver course induction that effectively introduces the programme and establishes expectations for learner behaviour, attendance and punctuality, respect and Fundamental British Values.
  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge that reflects industry standards and meets employer needs.
  • Support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills that prepares them for their intended job/career progression and personal goals.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide well-timed, constructive feedback, making it clear to learners how they can improve their work.
  • Coach, guide and motivate learners and provide information, advice and guidance throughout the programme to support their progression.
  • Contribute to the on-going development of schemes of work and curriculum plans that meet the needs of learners, employers and the skills needs of the local and national economy in collaboration with team members.
  • Promote the safety and welfare of learners in line with organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
  • Complete registers, documentation and daily, weekly, and monthly reports as set/requested by you Line Manager to report on learner and qualification progress tracking and any other related information.
  • Submit marked portfolios in a timely manner for interim and course end verification.
  • Work to, and achieve company set key performance indicators.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity, British Values and actively embed this within all teaching practices.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety at all times.
  • Attend training/CPD events and courses as required, maintaining own CPD.
  • Completion of all and any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics

Desirable

  • Recognised teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above
  • Assessors/Verification qualification
  • Level 3 IAG qualification

EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Experience in the qualification subjects you are applying to teach
  • Experience delivering up to and including Level 2 qualifications
  • Experience working with adults in learning environment

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering up to and including Level 3 qualifications

KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING

Essential

  • The ability to understand the monitoring, evaluation and service requirements of the project
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of work-based learning and the implementation of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment
  • Vocational and technical subject knowledge that reflects expected industry standards/practice and meets employer needs.

  • The post holder will require a full driving license (and ideally the use of a vehicle), subject to the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and must be willing to undertake travel as required.
